The First Commercial Hybrid Power Ferry in Asia : Happiness
The Happiness, navigating the Kaohsiung CiJin-GuShan route, was originally a diesel engine driven ferry.It was retrofitted into a hybrid power system and became the first hybrid power driven ferry in Asia. It was officially launched on the peak-travel period the day before the 2017 Spring Festival, and provided a smooth, comfortable, noise-free and fume smoke-free riding experience, winning unanimous admiration and a good reputation.
The hybrid power engineering technology of the ferry has novelty and energy-saving benefits, and won the Innovation Award of the Best Power System at the 2017 Amsterdam International Hybrid Power Ship Trade Show. The ferry can be recharged using the latest ship special shore connection power system (IEC-80005) and uses power electronics system level simulation to analyze the transient and steady state performance of the power system to strengthen the reliability.
